¿Cómo visualiza el contexto actual de la crisis a nivel empresarial?

Desde mi óptica de una institución académica, la crisis pone de relieve más que nunca la importancia del R+D i la formación para la supervivencia a largo plazo de las empresas.

 

¿Cómo intuye el contexto posterior a la crisis en la misma óptica?

Es difícil decir cómo será el futuro. Seguramente, las empresas habrán aprendido a trabajar todavía más a distancia y de forma más global.

¿Qué papel juega el liderazgo en la realidad actual?

El liderazgo auténtico deviene crítico. La realidad actual hace caer caretas y el liderazgo vacío y de escaparate se descubre inútil.

 

¿Qué es necesario, más que nunca, en las empresas y / o en los líderes empresariales?

Capacidad de adaptación a situaciones del todo imprevistas que cambiarán paradigmas muy establecidos. Y, por tanto, innovación y mentes abiertas.

 

¿Qué consejo daría hoy a los directivos y ejecutivos de empresa para encarar la etapa post-COVID-19?

Que no den nada por supuesto. Y que, pese a todo, sean conscientes que la inversión en talento es el mejor activo de una organización por muy inesperado que sea el futuro.

 

Como miembro del máximo órgano de gobierno de una institución focalizada en el crecimiento y formación de directivos y directivas, ¿qué mensaje dirigiría a nuestra Comunidad en estos momentos?

Que quizá una de las pocas cosas ciertas para el futuro es la correlación positiva entre formación (en el sentido más amplio de la palabra) y la capacidad de encarar retos.

Josep M. Martorell is the Associate Director of BARCELONA SUPERCOMPUTING CENTRE. Former General Director of Research for the GENERALITAT DE CATALUNYA, he has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the EADA Private University Foundation since 2020.

How do you view the current context of the crisis at company level?

From the perspective of an academic institution, the crisis highlights, now more than ever, the importance of R+D and training for the long-term survival of companies.

 

What do you think this context will look like post-crisis?

It is difficult to predict the future. It is clear that companies will have learnt how to improve on working remotely and more globally.

What is the current role of leadership?

We are in need of authentic leadership. The current situation will reveal empty and window- dressing leadership as being useless.

 

What is required, especially now, of companies and/or business leaders?

Ability to adapt to unexpected situations that will change well-established paradigms. Therefore, innovation and open-mindedness.

 

What advice would you give company managers and executives for the post-COVID-19 era?

That they should take nothing for granted. And that, despite everything, they should be aware that talent investment is the best asset of an organisation, however uncertain the future may be.

 

As a member of the Board of Trustees of an institution which focuses on management development and training, what would you say to our Community at this time?

One of the few certain things about the future is the positive correlation between training (in the widest sense of the word) and the ability to face adversity.
